The meeting opened with a prayer and featured presentations from community leaders, public officials, and local advocates.
Speakers included Justin Harris of the Memphis Office of Comprehensive Planning, along with community and civic leaders Karen Streeter, Lawrence Denton, Jahari Downey, Tasneem Wakil, and Nakisha Roberts, who shared updates on community initiatives, public service, and local development.
We also invite residents to attend our upcoming meeting featuring Justin J. Pearson, Pearl Walker, and Justin Harris, who will discuss community growth and opportunities to help make Whitehaven a better place to live, work, and play. 🌱🏡🤝

WG&SC 04/27/26
The Whitehaven Garden & Social Club meeting focused on community improvement, city service accountability, and expanding opportunities for local youth. Residents discussed concerns about neighborhood maintenance and the need for clearer communication and follow-through from city services, including the use of Memphis 311.
Councilwoman Yolanda Cooper-Sutton guided how resident concerns are addressed through the City Council and reaffirmed her commitment to accountability and ongoing engagement. A major emphasis was placed on increasing vocational training and workforce opportunities for youth as a pathway to long-term success and improved public safety.
Overall, the meeting centered on collaboration, solutions, and continued efforts to strengthen the Whitehaven community.

The meeting opened with a prayer and featured remarks from Steve Cohen and Pearl Walker. Congressman Cohen discussed the condition of Elvis Presley Boulevard and urged the Tennessee Department of Transportation to prioritize and fully fund repairs in its 10-Year Plan.
Councilwoman Walker also spoke about strengthening the Whitehaven community and improving communication between residents and city leadership, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and community voices in decision-making. 🤝🏽🏛️
